New Vegan Cookies Make Up for Joe Lieberman… Almost.

cookiebag1shop.jpgCity Girl Country Girl, a new cookie company from Greenwich, is making me seriously rethink my opinions about Connecticut.

Believe me when I tell you that no amount of Joementum can spoil the sweet ecstasy that comes from eating one of CGCG’s Chocolate Chip cookies. The fact that they are all natural, and vegan to boot, is just an added bonus. They are also wheat and white flour free, and contain no refined sugar.

Sure, Lieberman sponsored S.J. Res.46, the Senate’s authorization for use of military force against Iraq. But after tasting these delightful cookies, you can almost forgive the good people of Connecticut for re-electing the jerk… Almost.

You can get City Girl Country Girl’s cookies at select Whole Foods Markets in the Tri-state area, or you can order them online here.

  1. What’s your criteria here? Are these things chewy and soft, or crunchy and dry? How about the ratio of chips to dough? And how the hell do they make it taste good if there’s none of the good stuff in it? (It can be done!) How do these rate relative to, say, the ones from Alternative Baking Company (out of Sacramento, CA)? (You know the ones: http://www.alternativebaking.com/) Like, those are pretty good, but also sort of stiff, with a weird, mapley finish. I need detailed stats here!

  2. magnolia-avenue,

Good point. Here are some more details. Like most bagged cookies, these are more on the crunchy side. They have lots of semi-sweet chips. I couldn’t give you an exact ratio, but they’d give chips-ahoy a run for their money. They do use maple syrup as a sweetener, but the finish is more vanilla than maple.

I don’t know the Alternative Baking Co. cookies but would be interested in finding out more (hint hint). Maybe we could set up some sort of East Coast vs. West Coast taste test!
