A Hoodie for Grown-Ass Men

815.jpgGrowing up, it was impossible for me to go shopping for clothes without coming home with bags full of jeans, high tops and hoodies.

This may have been cute when I was a teenager, but I’m a man now. A man with a closet full of designer jeans, vintage high tops, my baby, and of course, the ubiquitous hoodie.

If you aren’t ready to shop in the big boys section, but you’re tired of getting carded at the bar, you might want to consider the lululemon athletica Cooldown Hoodie as a suitable upgrade.

Luluman has built a reputation for making quality yoga gear, and this hoodie has all the trappings of a carefully thought out and well researched piece of athletic equipment. One of the features that jumped out at me was the little flap of fabric at the top of the zipper. (They call it a “chin protecting zipper garage”). This is an important feature if you’ve ever caught your adam’s apple in your zipper. Don’t laugh! It hurts!

Other features include a hood with ear vents that allow you to hear, unless you are listening to your earbuds feed through the reinforced cord hole inside the left hand pocket. Speaking of pockets, there are more of them here than I can figure out what to do with. I count one for my ipod, one for my gameboy… maybe the other ones are for extra phatty shoe laces? Finally, perhaps the most noticable thing about the Cooldown hoodie is it’s heft. This is a substantial, warm, well constructed garment. If ever there was an heirloom hoodie, this is it.

Lululemon is also a company you can feel all warm and fuzzy supporting. Their website has details about their strict code of conduct insuring they don’t use child labour or forced labour in their manufacturing. They only use vedors with wage and benefit minimums and that are environmental responsibe. They also have community yoga classes in under served areas like the Upper West Side.

  1. Came across your site while researching a paper on unethical business practices by companies, just a note, you should google Chip Wilson + Child Labour…probably won’t feel so warm and fuzzy anymore.
