Obama Transcends Race, Opens Can of Whoop-Ass

obama_pointer.jpg Obama has just won South Carolina by the largest margin we’ve seen this cycle. The final numbers are Obama: 55%, Hillary 27%, Edwards 18%. Let’s take a look at those numbers:

Obama won by 28%.

The difference in votes between Clinton and Obama is greater than the number of people who voted for Clinton, period.

If every vote for Edwards in South Carolina had gone for Clinton, Obama would have won 55% to 45%.

At last count, Obama won in every county (including the state’s richest and poorest county) except for 3. Two of those went for Edwards. Only one went for Clinton.

More people voted for Obama in tonight’s South Carolina Democratic primary then voted in the last South Carolina Democratic primary.

And, just for the record, 61% of the people who voted in tonight’s primary were women.

This is all important to note since the Clinton campaign has already tried to label this historic victory in the largely black South Carolina as a potential negative for Obama.

It should also be noted that Obama won Iowa, which is like 7000% white.

  1. You mean 61% WERE women (not “where”)?

Other than that, I like the site. Keep it up.

  2. Indeed. Thanks.
