In Your Face Scott Bakula!
Quantum Leap (the West Village eatery, not the 80s TV show) is the sort of place you can get a well cooked vegetarian meal, served by a pleasant and inviting staff, as The Grateful Dead and Deep Purple play quietly on the radio. The inside may look like some Midwestern family style restaurant, but it’s the palpable lack of bullshit that makes Quantum Leap such an enjoyable place.
The menu features a predictable array of vegetarian entrees. There are veggie burgers as well as Mexican and Pan-Asian dishes made with wheat gluten, soy cheese and the like. The words “infused” and “spicy vanilla oil” appear a total number of zero times. This can be a good thing from time to time.
On a personal note, after a day of being treated like a pariah for having the audacity to bring a child to a place where people buy clothing, it’s nice to have a place where bringing a stroller inside is looked at as a rare treat and not greeted with rolled eyes. Yes I’m talking about you Urban Outfitters!
