McCaingerous: I voted against MLK before I voted for him.

ugh
I moved yesterday, so posts are few and far between, but for those not following the political blogs (what!?) I wanted to arm you with another talking point for your crazy uncle who thinks John McCain is a maverick and/or kind of liberal: McCain voted repeatedly and worked actively against any holiday for Martin Luther King. He apologized yesterday, in part blaming his “youth” and lack of understanding for his earlier positions. Uhm, he was 47 the first time he opposed the holiday. And! And! He readily admits that at age 47 he really didn’t even know who MLK was. (Thanks to Carl for the tip.)

Yesterday in Memphis he said in a speech that he plans to court the black vote, and he got off to a rollicking start by having this nice black man hold his umbrella for him.

  1. Ben, hope your move was a great success. I just moved as well to a new condo. I closed escrow and got my keys last week — on my 30th Birthday!

Keep up the great work at Pinko!
