Friday Quick Hits
It has been a kinda slow news week. Either that, or the fact that I can now go outside without my eyeballs freezing in their sockets has distracted me from the important business of sitting in front of the interweb all day. Whatever the case is, we think there are a few things that happened this week that deserve some attention.
• Remember when Hillary Clinton fired her chief strategist for backing the Colombian Trade Deal she, like, totally opposes? Truth be told, that was pretty awesome. It is unclear however if she will fire her husband for not only backing the deal but for earning $800,000 from a Bogota-based group that supports it. In his defense, Hillary says he is entitled to his opinion. She also didn’t really fire her chief strategist.
• Starbucks is now less green. At least their cups are less green. That is, the logo on their cups is now brown… again. But their new “everyday roast” is made from coffee purchased from suppliers that meet their own, self imposed C.A.F.E. Practices, which makes it more green… or something. Can we please stop using the word green?
• General David Petraeus has said the he will “never” run for public office. We have signed on to help Petraeus by pledging to never vote for him.
• Dick Chaney thinks the controversy over Rev. Wright was “remarkable”, so naturally he made remarks about it. He clearly thinks this is still a big issue. You know what I think? Go fuck yourself Dick Chaney.
