McCain: Women Want a Hand Up…
Lots has changed since John McCain was a young man. For instance, when he was my age, women weren’t allowed to venture outside of the cave after dark for fear of being attacked by saber tooth tigers. Had he just opened a newspaper in the last 50,000 years, he would have noticed that women are now, like, allowed to do stuff! Some of these dames even have their own horseless carriages that they drive all by themselves!
Perhaps his paleolithic world view explains why he spoke out against legislation that would have demanded equal pay for women. Before we get women equal pay, we need to let them attend school! Maybe get them some jobs skill other than sewing and baby makin’. One step at a time people…

Senator John McCain (R-AZ), who didn’t even come to vote, said that instead of legislation allowing them to demand equal pay, women simply need “education and training.” Not only is his information wrong — women are currently paid less for the same work, even though they have the same education and training — he’s also sending a message to our nation, to our sons and daughters, that this pay gap is okay, and it’s women’s fault for being paid less.
