Say goodbye to tampons! The super fancy “DivaCup™“, is my favorite thing I’ve put in my cooch lately, sorry Stirling.
Back in my radical cooch activist college days, I used to tell people about the Keeper like some kind of menstrual used car salesmen. In those days the Keeper was made out of tree sap*. Now the Moon Cup and the DivaCup (two brands of almost identical reusable menstrual cups) come in snazzy, high quality, soft, medical grade silicone. They’re 100% hypoallergenic, odorless, have antibacterial properties and are latex-free.
- Step one, buy it.
- Step two, put it in your cooch during your period.
From stuck pig heavy days, to the lightest flow days and no leaks! The putting in and taking out process takes some getting used to. Since it holds one full ounce of fluid (the amount of blood in most women’s entire cycle) you don’t have to change it very often. Depending on your flow empty the cup 2-3 times per 24 hour day, wash and reinsert.
The DivaCup™ website told me:

i loved the keeper but it gave me bv. i loved it so much i still used it, becuase i am crusty-core like that. ask former roommates about how i used to feed houseplants my menstrual blood. but now that i’ve cleaned up my act, i’m going to go get a diva cup asap!
