I can’t believe I’m going to suggest this

paper clipBut, you might want to go pick up a copy of Micro$oft Office Ultimate here ($ = angry sarcasm nerd points). It’s only $60, kindly reduced from its original price: $5423.54. But, like all that comes from Papa Gates, there are two catches:

1. You have to have a .edu address.
2. You may have to be taking some classes or something.

Both, also very like Microsoft, are lies. Well, the second one is. Neither applies to me, but I wanted to maybe get a copy for work, just in case I needed it for work or sharing or something. Luckily a friend works at Stanford. Enter his email, and woot, he just might be eligible! Sorry about the spam, Vkdir, but would you mind forwarding that to me?

But actually, there’s another thing: You really should only buy it if you’re unaware that a massive number of dedicated free and open source software people have made an amazing office suite very similar (but kinda better) to Office. It’s called Open Office! It does literally *all* the things you’d want to do with Micro$oft office — write, do spreadsheet things, dazzle with your presentation skills, etc. (all in M$ Office format, to boot). And it’s available for Mac, Windows, and the various flavors of Linux.

And the learning curve? Flat as a flyover state. So, you actually don’t have any legitimate excuses for not downloading right this second. Now if only the candidates here knew as much as the French or Brazilians.
