Sexism, Racism and Presidential Politics

2008 has taught us a lot, but mostly it has taught us about ourselves. For instance, we have learned that all Hillary Clinton supporters are racists, all Obama supporters are sexists, and Republicans just hate everyone, even their own nominee.

But did you know that all Americans are actually jerky sexist racists? How else can you explain the total lack of attention being paid to Green Party Presidential hopeful Cynthia McKinney?

Sure, go ahead and laugh. What else would we expect from a sexist racist such as yourself? Seriously, you we should really be ashamed of yourself ourselves.

All kidding aside, Cynthia McKinney is actually a very interesting politician. Sure, she once questioned Al Gore’s “negro tolerance” and tried to rip a United States Capitol Police officer’s heart out with her bare hands, but she also introduced articles of impeachment against President George W. Bush and called for the early release of sealed files concerning Martin Luther King, Jr’s assassination. She also asked Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff why he thinks he shouldn’t be arrested for negligent homicide! I’m starting to like this Cynthina McKinney!

So, if you’ve been racking your brain tying to figure out who you want to vote for less, a black person or a women, then Cynthia McKinney allows you to not have your cake or eat it!

  1. Cynthia is amazing but she basically was like “ill run but I can’t win” which is kind of a buzzkill for her staff and shit. also I liked it when she punched that Congressional security guard.

  2. I’m sure he had it coming.

I really don’t know which is worse, a thrird party candidate insisting they can’t win, or a major party candidate insisting they CAN win the nomination when they know full well they can’t…

  3. My favorite was Mike Gravel, who repeatedly said in every campaign speech: “When I’m President, and I will be President … let there be no doubt about it.” [laughter]

But the best morsel of Gravel logic was his national sales tax idea, which he insisted was “more progressive” than the income tax. “If you don’t believe me, don’t worry,” he said. “When I’m President, there’s no way Congress will ever approve it.”

  4. I’ve been wanting to vote for Cynthia McKinney since before she announced she was running. Even with Nader in the ring, I’ll probably still vote for McKinney. But I’ll be overseas and be sending in an absentee ballot, so my vote won’t count anyway.

  5. bitter brown woman

cynthia is also a lot friendlier than certain “progressive” white female political figures. in my experience.

  6. she would be great as part of the debates.

  7. Come on, one of the major candidates CAN win…and should win. Let’s not disparage a good thing. A multi-racial, transgendered, pan-sexual candidate, isn’t necessarily the best person to run the US.

Pro-Obama does not = sexist, just hopeful.

  8. Oh, I wasn’t talking about him ;-)

  9. [...] she’s probably going to be the Green Party nominee. Plus she doesn’t have Ralph Nader’s massive ego.http://pinkomag.com/2008/05/27/sexism-racism-and-presidential-politics/BlackRock HomeOffers mutual funds, closed-end funds, managed accounts and alternative investments to [...]
