Hi kids. Today we are going to learn how a hastily drawn up bill becomes a law we can never overturn! All together now:

National crisis +
congressional session coming to a close +
perceived sense of urgency +
fear +
no accountability +
no understanding of why this crisis happened =
cash monies from us to the government.

This cash money can take many forms. You might recognize this process from such bills as: the rush to war with Iraq, and more recently as the proposed game plan for the financial crisis.

In the case of the Iraq war funding bill, economists estimate the total cost to us for nation building will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $2 to 4 TRILLION.

In the case of the corporate bailout bill, it’ll just be a small $700 BILLION.
