Friday: The end of the world?

PINKO DAILY BRIEFS: I was in Chinatown this morning and there was an elderly Chinese woman in front of the Post Office clubbing a rat to death with her walking stick. It was worse because the stick had one of those safety pad things on the bottom so she was clubbing it with relative kindness. I don’t know. Also the Metro, that free tabloid and the best newspaper in the history of journalism, had this wild headline: World Left Asking, When Will it End? They weren’t even talking about Sarah Palin! They were talking about the economy. Anyway, a few things to know this morning. Iceland is the first country in the world to see their currency collapse in the credit crisis. It’s very sad, and must be a scary time there. The election has two big themes over the next few days. (1) Barack Obama is a terrorist (the newest one focuses on Obama secretly plotting with the President of Kenya) and (2) Angry, racist lynch mob crowds at McCain-Palin rallies. Jonathan Martin had this interesting piece about anger, and whether the mobs will help or hurt the campaign. Also Barack Obama is buying a half hour of air time on all the networks on the 29th! That’s a lot of time Jesus Christ. And make sure to read this  fantastic new investigation by my friend Max Blumenthal which details a couple of new  extreme right-wing Sarah Palin relationships.

Lastly, sign this petition right now. The WE Campaign, Al Gore’s anti-global warming effort, is trying to place a very strong ad on ABC. ABC won’t let them, most likely because their other advertisers include oil companies. Sign it!

Editors note: Every morning I google image search something like “mens briefs” or “mens underwear” to find the fine photos with these posts, and half the images are always women in men’s underwear. Is that a whole thing? I’m a gay person so I don’t know, but is that a whole hot “whoa she’s wearing my boxer shorts” THING it must be.
