Daily briefs, weekend edition.
PINKO DAILY BRIEFS. It’s cold out! We love it. Other things we love? Colin Powell and a possible Obama endorsement tomorrow. Obama outspending McCain dramatically because of all that money I gave him. This wonk-ish look at the rural-urban divide, population density and voting. This pumpkin curry I used to eat, drink and practically bathe in when I lived in San Francisco. Things we don’t love? Increasingly racist Republicans, whose newest antics are summarized nicely here. Center-Democratic Progressive advocacy groups like the League of Conservation voters who endorse Republicans over solid progressives so they can be “bi-partisan” in their issue silos, even though it keeps us further from a bigger working majority in congress that could help everyone. Extreme facism on the rise in Europe. ”Raw sewage flowing into the sea close to prime tourist beaches.” Get it together Dubai!
Also one shameless pitch. My friend Amanda Ameer interviewed … well, me in her fantastic Arts Journal blog “Life’s a Pitch” about arts marketing. Her blog is fantastic especially for the marketing nerds among us and the arts & music lovers. Way better than me is her brilliant excoriation of the Brooklyn Philharmonic for their inconsistent use of fonts across their range of promotional materials. Come on non-profits, stay on brand! In any case please give Amanda a look.
