“A New Era of Responsibility”

So Chief Justice Roberts botched the swearing in. (Video below after the jump. I liked Obama's face, which was basically "dude that's not it.") Rick Warren is not only a homophobe, he's a blowhard. What a terrible invocation. And the speech took awhile to grow on me. But threading that needle – advocating active government through the lens of personal responsibility – is not easy. And that Washington stuff was gold. Hooray.
Also gold? The fact that the entire speech was the fucking “new new deal” speech. Come on! He basically said if you can’t find the stones to pass universal health care now then your no better then former president bush. I am re hopeified.
I give it two snaps up.
CNN’s coverage of the speech managed to zoom in on Bush in a critical moment about not giving up our ideals for safety. He didn’t even bat an eye.
Christ, I’m glad it’s over.
Robert’s flub is a classical example of passive aggression (maybe not even that passive). Also, it illustrates why you shouldn’t trust your own interpretation of any text, or trust your fantastic memorys of the texts and its various meanings.
Just read the goddamn teleprompter, your Honor. So help you God.
Dickhead. Not a good forum for scoping out a person’s (especially the president’s) take on theological issues.
I err. Sources say that the flub was a teleprompter issue. Believe what you may.
Sorry, your Honor.
Next time, bring an index card.
