It occurred to me after seeing the Senate runoff in Georgia and yesterdays Congressional elections in Louisiana that a critical role for Barack Obama and the team maintaining his grassroots network is to make sure that people keep voting. A high turnout of black, latino and young voters won this thing for Obama, but people [...]

The better angels of our nature?

Two quick stories. I freaked out about the Virginia Tech voter suppression, but a Nation reporter in Virginia had a different perspective. (Link soon.) “Re Virginia Tech,” he wrote me, “it encapsulates perfectly what’s going right. Yes the local election officials have done everything they can to suppress the student vote, but the response has [...]

All politics is lustful, I mean, local

Sep 10th, 2008 | By Charles London | Category: Politics

So I voted in my local primary yesterday, thanks to a lot of pushy canvasers lambasting me while I was walking my dog. None of them seemed to know anything about the candiates dog related policies, but they complimented Baxter’s unique coloring, and asked me if I was going to vote. I lied and said [...]

Extremely Hot Man for Senate (D-Nebraska).

May 11th, 2008 | By benwyskida | Category: Politics

Besides the Presidential race, there are dozens of compelling stories about Congressional, Senate and local races where progressives and Democrats are competitive in places where they haven’t really competed for decades. Like, if I told you that this totally hot, extremely bang-tastic, very progressive 32-year old Yale educated rancher-stud was mere inches away from winning [...]

The Aftermath…

May 7th, 2008 | By Stirling | Category: Uncategorized

The pundits predicted Hillary would win Indiana and Obama would win North Carolina. They weren’t wrong.
